The Fairey story began in aviation in 1915 in Southampton, England. Fairey Marine followed in 1946, initially to make use of the spare building shed capacity after wartime production ceased. This Dufour Prestige 50 was built in 2000 and commissioned in 2001. She has a very luxurious feel onboard, lovely warming wood joinery and she feels very spacious without being oversized. Shipbuilding started at the Whitehall Shipyard in Whitby around 1700, under the ownership of Thomas Turnbull and Son. They began with building wooden sailing ships but they continued for almost 3 centuries designing and building smaller vessels, especially for the harsh North Sea conditions and often for commercial use.
